Zeeba Book News Letter

Filed under: Uncategorized — martynorth @ 7:30 am

March 28, 2007 – Just a little note on what’s happening at your local bookshop!

It’s a Boy!!

The Zeeba Team grew by one last week. Baharak and I are very happy to announce the birth of our first child on St. Patrick’s Day. Mom and son are both doing fantastic! His name is Kasm which comes from the initials of his grandparents’ first names.

We would like to welcome our newest subscribers and remind them that the draw (for a Zeeba Gift Certificate) will be done next Monday morning.

Our shop will shortly be expanding. Nothing too extravagant, just a small room in the back of the shop. Still, this will enable us to expand our book selection by 50% and at least double our French and History sections. The work should be done by May.

Want to search through our listings (currently 6 800 titles), just click here to see our advanced search page.

Some recent arrivals…

Thirteen Moons, Charles Frazier $15.00 at Zeeba Books  (An Amazon review 4.5/5) I must qualify my review by saying that Cold Mountain was one of my favorite reads of the 1990s and I have patiently been waiting for Mr. Fraizer’s sophomore effort. The great news is “Thirteen Moons” proves the author is more than a one hit wonder. This is historical fiction at its best, as we follow the first person account of the 19th century frontier life of Will Cooper. This is a first person account told by an old man at start of a new century, his life a relic of the past.
Bloodletting and other Miraculous Cures, Vincent Lam
$12.00 at Zeeba Books >

Girl With A Pearl Earring A Novel, Tracy Chevalier$7.00 at Zeeba Books
Concrete Blonde, Michael Connelly$6.00 at Zeeba Books 4.5/5 on AmazonFirst Sentence:

Nick, A Montreal Life, Nick Auf Der Maur $10.50 at Zeeba Books   Nick Auf der Maur led a uniquely Montreal life that he shared with readers of his column in The Gazette. “He wrote about Montreal the way Jimmy Breslin wrote about New York,” a colleague commented. “It wouldn’t work anywhere else, but there were universal moments of truth in it.” Other cities existed, in Nick’s mind, mostly to be compared with Montreal.
